Welcome to the personal website of Alp Arda, architect, teaching fellow, "urban/archi-hacker" and interdisciplinary researcher. Here, you can explore his architectural projects, academic publications, and ongoing research practices, all aimed at rethinking urban environments and pushing the boundaries of contemporary design and theory through speculative architecture and research-by-design methods.
Research | Hacking Layers.
An interdisciplinary research project that integrates AI with selected academic scholarship, led by Alp Arda, to explore cities as evolving systems shaped by time and space. Utilizing the "hacking cities" and "blackhole dimension" frameworks, it develops adaptable urban resilience strategies, merging architecture, digital technologies, and urban theory.
Project | Kartal Waterfront.
The adaptive reuse of Kartal's historic pier preserves its architectural essence while introducing new public interaction. Retaining its fishermen's shelters and markets, the project preserves original structures while integrating contemporary design. Inspired by modern waterfront principles, it enhances functionality and aesthetics through open spaces, natural light, green corridors, and public plazas.
